Housing Justice: What Happened to the Fair Housing Act?

  • Richard Kemp Center 372 North Winooski Avenue Burlington, VT, 05401 United States (map)

Join the Richard Kemp Center, the ACLU, the Vermont Human Rights Commission, the Land Access Opportunity Board, Legal Aid and the Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity’s Fair Housing Project to lift up Fair Housing Month. In this time of massive rollbacks of civil rights at the national level this Fair Housing Month has never been more important.

More than half of the contracts that support the enforcement of the Fair Housing Act of 1968 were cancelled in February. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) terminated the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) rule in February. How will these changes affect Black and other marginalized communities in Vermont?

Come and learn about the implications of changes in federal policy and the anti discrimination programs and services available across Vermont.
