Pievy Polyte
“My name is Pierrevy Polyte. Friends call me Pievy (“pea-vee”). I am originally for Haiti. I am an artist, farmer, school-builder and more. In Haiti, I have a large farm on Peak Macaya, Haiti’s second tallest mountain. I own a large farm that grows coffee, cocoa, fruit, and vegetables. In 2005, I built a school for the local community, Lacadonie, Haiti. It is the only school on the mountain.
I moved to Burlington, Vermont in April of 2016 to live with my wife. She is a Vermonter. In the fall of 2016, Hurricane Matthew devastated both my farm and the school. We moved the students into a temporary shelter while we struggled to teach the 500 kids.
Rebuilding the school motivates my painting, because I need money to send to Haiti to help rebuild the school, remake the farm, and support my friends’ farms on the mountain. Every time I sell a painting, 50% of the money goes directly to Haiti to Peak Macaya Co-op, the co-op I found in 2005 to work with the population of Peak Macaya.
